Pfanzelt showcases technology for mountain forests

Austrofoma 2019 was a complete success. The chambers of agriculture as event organisers and all 150 exhibiting companies were delighted to welcome over 20,800 visitors. Pfanzelt also drew some positives from the event and was delighted about the great presentation options for Pfanzelt products in challenging terrain owned by Esterházy forestry companies.

At the exhibition stand located on the main route around the trade fair, Pfanzelt showcased different machine concepts to recover short and long timber in challenging to steep terrain. In total more than 160 cubic metres of timber and associated branches as well as crown material were harvested.

The Pm Trac 2385.4f in combination with the Pfanzelt P17 driven forwarding trailer represents a genuine 8-wheel combination machine to harvest short and long timber. The machine combination moves in synch and is controlled by the conveniently located controls of the forwarding trailer featuring four driven wheels. If necessary, leading or trailing units can also be controlled with the terminal. The forwarding trailer is decoupled to forward long timber and replaced by the forwarding crane combined with the dual-drum geared cable winch.

In addition to the machines for forwarding Pfanzelt also showcases the company’s most recent in-house development - hydraulic powerDRIVE wheel drive. The power is transferred using a multi-plate clutch and an axial piston motor. This enables a thrust between 2.4 and 6.1 kN depending on the available oil supply. When driving on roads the vehicle can rely on a standard brake system. In this process, the drive runs completely wear-free. The maximum speed also depends on the hydraulics system and ranges between 4.1 and 8.8 km/h.

Specialist visitors were also very keen to find out more about the personal protection screen for the Moritz mini felling tractor. The system has been awarded a silver medal by DLG and is installed very quickly on relevant trees due for felling to consequently boost the safety of manually operating forestry staff.
